1What's your speciality?
I have a professional interest in gastrointestinal disorders, and those who have a poor relationship with food and their body. I care deeply about helping clients to normalise their relationship with food and to improve their body image through self-compassion, intuitive eating and gentle nutrition. I help those who struggle with IBS, coeliac's disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, diarrhoea, constipation and other digestive issues.
2What video call software do you use?
I use the video call software Zoom. It's similar to Skype but it's more secure, contains more functions, and doesn't require you to have an account to use it. It's free for you to set up and use. All you need to do is click the link that will be sent to you by email and everything will happen automatically.
3How many sessions will I need?
This is often different for every client, but usually a minimum of 3 sessions is needed for proper care. It can take time to work through some issues and you may need more sessions than others depending on your needs.
4How often should I see you?
This depends on your schedule, budget and needs but usually once a week or fortnight, and typically no less than once a month.
5Do you offer sessions in physical locations or only online?
I only work virtually through online video link. I do not currently work face-to-face in a physical location. I find this saves my clients a lot of time and hassle getting to and from a clinic while providing the same quality of service. Physical examinations are not a routine part of nutrition assessment for Dietitians, so our sessions are held exactly as they would if I was sitting in the room with you.
6Do you accept insurance?
While I don't accept insurance, you'll receive an invoice that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.
7How is Intuitive Eating different?
Intuitive Eating is the ultimate Anti-Diet. It's an evidence-based approach that reconnects you with your hunger and satiety signals and stepping away from the guilty backlash of your thought police. An intuitive eater is someone who (mostly); has unconditional permission to eat all foods, honours their hunger and fullness signals, eats for physical rather than emotional reasons and makes food choices based on how food feels in their body (energised or satisfied vs. tired or cranky). Rather than focusing on weight, the focus of Intuitive Eating is on cultivating healthy behaviours. I take a gentle nutrition stance, meaning I don’t reinforce rigid food rules but instead consider how we can add in foods and nutrients, rather than take away (where possible).
8Can you help me lose weight?
Intuitive Eating isn't a weight-loss programme. The Intuitive Eating process involves actively *not* seeking weight-loss, but instead focussing on health behaviours. This approach encourages your body to settle at the most natural and healthiest weight for you. Part of this process involves working on fostering body acceptance and self-love.
